Happy Tuesday! It's the most wonderful time of the week... time to make you SMILE!
This is one of my favorite quotes, but I couldn't track down where it originated. It's SO true, especially as a new year gets underway. If you want to see a change, then make the change. Start now!

RECIPE: PIZZA QUESO
Today's newsletter is kicking off with this pizza queso recipe... because IT'S PIZZA QUESO! Callie and Jeff's friend, Chef Laura Lea, recently shared this delicious dish on her Instagram page and you might be surprised by one of the main ingredients. AKA: healthy-ish.

THREE RANDOM THINGS
  1. Happy Kiss a Ginger Day! I don’t make these things up. January 12 is “Kiss a Ginger Day,” so go find the red head in your life, and give him/her a big smooch.
  2. Speaking of smooches… did you know seahorses are monogamous and mate for life? Now you know.
  3. Allegedly, a bolt of lightning contains enough energy to toast 100K slices of bread. (On that note, here is another Laura Lea recipe for avocado toast)

WHAT IS LOVE?
Upsider Emily Holloway Shumate shared this sweet image in our Upside Facebook group. It was written by a 6-year-old girl named Emma. “Love is when you’re missing some of your teeth, but you’re not afraid to smile because you know your friends will still love you even though some of you is missing.” Thank you for sharing this, Emily!

INMATES RAISE $32K FOR STUDENT’S TUITION
Sy Green’s family went through a tough time financially after his dad had a heart attack and his mom lost her vision. Both of his parents also lost their jobs. He was shocked when he found out inmates at a California prison came together to pay for his tuition. “Incarcerated people were so drawn to the idea of going a mile deep in a young man's life, that they were giving up their month's pay to contribute.”

Nothing changes if nothing changes is my motto for 2021. To be honest, fitness hasn't been a priority for me since July, when I lost a baby. Then, six weeks later, my mom died in a car accident. I was in really good shape before all of this happened thanks to a previous ad partner on THE UPSIDE with Callie and Jeff - Future Fitness. Even though I feel frustrated, I haven't been upset with myself because life has been crazy. I've been in survival mode and given myself lots of grace. That said, nothing changes if nothing changes and I want to start feeling "healthy" again. As I type this, I just did a beginner 20 minute bike ride - it was tough. It was also a first step. Sometimes taking that initial step, or leap of faith, is the hardest part As Jeff says, "keep moving forward."
Xoxo, Katie
